Constipation Detox Drink

Constipation Detox Drink

Ingredients

  • 1 cup warm or room-temperature water
  • ½ cup unsweetened prune juice
  • 1 tablespoon chia seeds
  • 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
  • ½ teaspoon grated fresh ginger, optional
  • ½ cup cold water or ice, optional
  • 1 teaspoon honey, optional

Instructions

1. Prepare the Chia Seeds

Add the chia seeds to ½ cup of water and stir well. Let them sit for 10–15 minutes, stirring once or twice, until they absorb some liquid and develop a gel-like texture.

Allowing the chia seeds to hydrate before drinking helps them mix more easily into the beverage.

2. Combine the Ingredients

In a large glass, combine the prune juice, remaining water, fresh lemon juice, and optional grated ginger.

Add the hydrated chia seeds and stir thoroughly.

If you prefer a sweeter drink, add a small amount of honey. For a colder version, add ice or refrigerate for a few minutes before serving.

3. Serve

Stir again immediately before drinking because the chia seeds naturally settle toward the bottom.

Enjoy the drink slowly rather than consuming a large amount at once. Also drink additional plain water throughout the day to support adequate hydration.

Tips

Start with a smaller amount of chia if you are not accustomed to eating much fiber. Increasing fiber too quickly can cause bloating or gas.

You can also blend a few soaked prunes directly into the drink for additional texture and flavor. If using whole prunes, start with a small portion and increase gradually as tolerated.

Regular meals containing fruits, vegetables, beans, whole grains, and other fiber-rich foods can also help maintain regular bowel movements. Physical activity and adequate fluid intake are important as well.

Important Note

This drink is not a medical detox or a treatment for chronic constipation. Constipation that is persistent, severe, or repeatedly returning should be discussed with a healthcare professional.

Seek prompt medical attention if constipation occurs with severe or persistent abdominal pain, vomiting, significant abdominal swelling, blood in the stool, or inability to pass gas.
