Homemade English Muffins Recipe 🥯✨
Ingredients
- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tbsp sugar
- 1 tsp salt
- 2 tsp instant yeast
- 1 cup warm milk
- 2 tbsp melted butter
- 1 egg
- Cornmeal for dusting
Instructions
1. Prepare the Dough
- In a large bowl, mix warm milk, sugar, and yeast.
- Let sit for 5 minutes until foamy.
- Add egg, melted butter, salt, and flour.
- Knead for 8–10 minutes until soft and smooth.
2. First Rise
- Place dough in a greased bowl.
- Cover and let rise for 1 hour until doubled.
3. Shape Muffins
- Roll dough to about ½-inch thickness.
- Cut circles using a biscuit cutter or glass.
- Sprinkle trays with cornmeal and place muffins on top.
- Dust tops lightly with more cornmeal.
4. Second Rise
- Cover and rest for 30 minutes.
5. Cook
- Heat a skillet or griddle over low-medium heat.
- Cook muffins 6–8 minutes per side until golden brown and cooked through.
6. Serve
Split with a fork and enjoy with:
