Blueberry Sweet Buns
Ingredients
-
All-purpose flour: 2 cups (250g)
-
Granulated sugar: 3 tbsp
-
Instant yeast: 1 tsp
-
Warm milk: $\frac{1}{2}$ cup (120ml)
-
Melted butter: 3 tbsp
-
Egg: 1 large (at room temperature)
-
Salt: $\frac{1}{4}$ tsp
-
Fresh blueberries: 1 cup
-
Egg wash: 1 egg beaten with 1 tbsp water
Instructions
-
Activate Yeast: In a large bowl, whisk warm milk, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for 5 minutes until frothy.
-
Make the Dough: Stir in the melted butter, egg, and salt. Gradually add the flour, stirring until a soft dough forms.
-
Knead & Rise: Knead the dough on a lightly floured surface for 5–7 minutes until smooth and elastic. Place it in a greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm spot for 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
-
Shape: Punch down the dough and divide it into 6 equal portions. Roll each portion into a smooth ball. Flatten them slightly and place them onto a parchment-lined baking sheet.
-
Add Blueberries: Gently press several fresh blueberries deep into the top of each dough ball, creating a beautiful pattern like the ones in the picture. Cover and let them rest for 20 minutes.
-
Bake: Preheat your oven to 350°F (180°C). Lightly brush the tops of the buns with the egg wash for a glossy, golden finish. Bake for 15–18 minutes until they are beautifully golden brown. Cool slightly before serving.
