Ingredients
- 2 cups fresh strawberries, hulled and chopped
- 2 cups cold milk
- ½ cup heavy cream or evaporated milk
- ⅓ cup granulated sugar, or to taste
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- ½ cup cold water, optional
- ½ cup ice cubes
- 1 tbsp lemon juice, optional
- Fresh strawberries, for garnish
Instructions
1. Prepare the Strawberries:
Wash the strawberries thoroughly under cool running water and remove the green tops. Cut the berries into smaller pieces so they blend easily. Choose ripe, sweet strawberries for the best natural flavor and bright pink color.
2. Blend the Fruit:
Place the strawberries in a blender. Add the sugar, vanilla extract, lemon juice, and cold water if using. Blend for 1–2 minutes until the strawberries become completely smooth and juicy.
3. Add the Creamy Ingredients:
Pour in the cold milk and heavy cream or evaporated milk. Add the ice cubes and blend again for about 30–45 seconds until the drink becomes smooth, creamy, and lightly frothy.
4. Adjust the Texture:
Taste the drink and adjust the sweetness according to your preference. If you want a thinner, more juice-like consistency, add a little extra cold water or milk. For a thicker and richer drink, add a few more strawberries or a splash of cream.
5. Strain if Desired:
For an especially smooth drink, pour the mixture through a fine-mesh strainer into a large bowl or jug. Gently press the mixture with a spoon to extract the liquid. You can skip this step if you enjoy a thicker drink with tiny strawberry pieces.
6. Chill and Serve:
Pour the strawberry drink into clean glass bottles, jars, or serving glasses. Refrigerate for at least 30 minutes before serving. Shake or stir gently before pouring because natural strawberry pulp may settle.
Tips
For the freshest flavor, use ripe seasonal strawberries. Frozen strawberries can also be used; simply reduce the amount of ice. If you prefer a stronger strawberry flavor, blend in an additional ½ cup of berries.
For a dessert-style version, add a scoop of vanilla ice cream instead of some of the cream. You can also garnish each glass with a fresh strawberry or add thin strawberry slices inside the bottle for a beautiful presentation.
