Southern Sweet Potato Pone
Ingredients
- 3 large sweet potatoes, peeled and grated
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup melted butter
- 2 eggs
- 1 cup evaporated milk
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- 1/2 tsp nutmeg
- 1/2 tsp ginger
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 cup flour

- Chopped pecans
- Maple syrup
Directions
Preheat oven to 175°C (350°F).
Grease a baking dish or cast-iron skillet.
In a large bowl, combine grated sweet potatoes, brown sugar, granulated sugar, melted butter, eggs, evaporated milk, and vanilla extract.
Add cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger, salt, and flour. Mix until fully combined.
Pour mixture into the prepared baking dish and smooth the top.
Bake for 50–60 minutes until golden brown around the edges and set in the center.
Allow pone to cool slightly before slicing.
Serve warm with butter drizzle, chopped pecans, or maple syrup if desired.
