Sponge Chocolate Cake 🍫
Ingredients
- 2 eggs
- 130 g sugar
- 70 g vegetable oil
- 170 g flour
- 40 g cocoa powder
- 3 g baking soda
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- Pinch of salt
- 120 ml milk or warm water
- 1 tsp vinegar or lemon juice
Chocolate Topping
- 150 g chocolate
- 100 ml heavy cream
- Chocolate sprinkles or pearls, optional
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F / 180°C. Grease and line a round cake pan.
- Whisk eggs and sugar for 3–5 minutes until light and slightly fluffy.
- Add oil and vanilla, then mix well.
- Sift in flour, cocoa, baking soda, and salt.
- Add milk or warm water and vinegar/lemon juice. Mix until smooth, but do not overmix.
- Pour batter into the pan and bake for 25–35 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean.
- Let the cake cool completely.
- For topping, heat cream until warm, pour over chopped chocolate, wait 2 minutes, then stir until glossy.
- Spread ganache over the cake and decorate with chocolate pearls or sprinkles.
