🧾 Ingredients
For the dough:
- 3 cups (375 g) all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 tbsp sugar
- 1 packet (2¼ tsp) instant yeast
- 1 cup (240 ml) warm milk or water
- 2 tbsp oil or melted butter
For the filling (choose one):
🥔 Potato filling:
- 2 cups mashed potatoes
- ½ tsp salt
- ½ tsp black pepper
- 1 tbsp butter
- Optional: green onions or cheese
🥩 Meat filling:
- 1 lb (450 g) ground beef or chicken
- 1 small onion, chopped
- 1 tsp garlic
- Salt, pepper, paprika to taste
🧀 Cheese filling:
- 1–1½ cups shredded cheese (mozzarella, cheddar, or mix)
🥣 Instructions
1. Make the dough
- In a bowl, mix warm milk, sugar, and yeast. Let sit 5–10 minutes until foamy.
- Add flour, salt, and oil.
- Knead for 8–10 minutes until soft and smooth.
- Cover and let rise for 1 hour (until doubled).
2. Prepare filling
- Cook or mix your chosen filling and let it cool.
3. Shape the breads
- Divide dough into equal balls (about golf-ball size).
- Roll each into a small circle.
- Add filling in the center.
- Fold and seal edges tightly.
- Gently flatten into thick discs.
4. Fry
- Heat oil in a pan over medium heat.
- Fry each bread for 3–4 minutes per side until golden brown.
- Flip carefully so they puff evenly.
5. Serve
- Serve warm with yogurt, sauce, or tea.
💡 Tips
- Don’t overfill or they may burst while frying.
- Keep heat medium so inside cooks fully.
- Brush with butter after frying for extra softness.
