* Cheesy Taco Crescent Ring / Sloppy Joe Biscuit Bake*
*Ingredients:*
– 1 lb / 500g ground beef / keema
– 1 small onion, finely chopped
– 2 tbsp tomato paste / ketchup
– 1 pack taco seasoning OR (1 tsp salt, 1 tsp black pepper, 1 tsp paprika, 1/2 tsp cumin, 1/2 tsp garlic powder)
– 1/4 cup water
– 1 can crescent roll dough OR 1 can biscuit dough / pizza dough (8 pieces)
– 1.5 cups shredded cheese – cheddar + mozzarella mix
– 1 tbsp butter, melted for brushing
*Method:*
*1. Cook the beef:*
In a pan, fry onion, add ground beef. Cook until brown. Drain extra oil.
Add tomato paste, all spices and water. Cook 4-5 mins until thick like in your photo – it should NOT be watery. Let it cool for 10 mins.
*2. Arrange the dough:*
Grease a 9-inch round pie dish. Open crescent dough and arrange triangles / biscuits around the edge as in the picture – thick part outside, point inside. The center will be empty. Press lightly to seal.
*3. Fill:*
Spoon the cooked beef into the center. Spread it evenly. Top generously with shredded cheese
*4. Bake:*
Brush the biscuit ring with melted butter. Bake at 190°C / 375°F for 20-25 mins until the ring is puffy and deep golden brown and cheese is bubbly.
*5. Serve:*
Let it rest 5 mins, then cut like a pie. Serve with sour cream, salsa or ketchup.
It comes out cheesy, meaty in the middle with soft buttery bread on the sides – perfect for dinner!
*1. Make filling THICK, not saucy:*
This is the #1 mistake. Cook the keema until all water dries up. If filling is wet, the bottom dough will stay raw and soggy.
*2. Cool the meat before filling:*
Don’t put hot keema directly on raw dough. Let it cool 10 mins. Hot filling makes the dough melt and it won’t puff up golden.
*3. Don’t put cheese at the bottom:*
Meat first, then cheese on top like in photo. If cheese is at bottom, it burns and sticks to the pan.
*4. Seal the ring properly:*
Overlap the crescent pieces a little and press the seams. If there’s a gap, the cheese will leak out.
*5. Golden color secret:*
Brush the ring with melted butter + a pinch of garlic powder or egg wash before baking. You will get that perfect shiny golden
*6. Use 2 cheeses:*
Just cheddar is oily, just mozzarella is bland. Mix both 50/50 – you get that perfect cheesy pull and color.
*7. Don’t cut immediately:*
Wait 5-7 mins after baking. If you cut hot, the filling falls apart. Waiting sets it like a pie slice.
