Ingredients:
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup white sugar
- 1 cup packed brown sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 2 cups semisweet chocolate chips
Instructions:
- Preheat & Prep: Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Line cookie sheets with parchment paper.
- Cream Butter & Sugars: In a large bowl, cream together the butter, white sugar, and brown sugar until smooth. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla.
- Combine Dry Ingredients: Dissolve baking soda in hot water. Add to batter along with salt. Stir in flour, baking powder, and chocolate chips.
- Form Cookies: Drop large spoonfuls of dough onto prepared cookie sheets.
- Bake: Bake for about 10 minutes in the preheated oven, or until edges are nicely browned.
- Cool: Let them cool on baking sheets for a few minutes before transferring to wire racks to cool completely.
Tips:
- For extra flavor, add a pinch of cinnamon or replace 1/2 cup of white sugar with brown sugar.
- Chilling the dough for 30 minutes before baking can enhance the texture and flavor.
- Don’t overcrowd the baking sheet; cookies need room to spread.
