The Green Power Smoothie
This recipe balances the creaminess of banana with the nutrient density of leafy greens, topped with seeds for a little extra texture and protein.
Ingredients
-
1 large banana (frozen works best for a creamy, chilled texture)
-
1 cup kale (stems removed, packed tightly)
-
1 cup milk of choice (almond, oat, or dairy)
-
1/2 cup Greek yogurt (optional, for extra creaminess and protein)
-
1 tbsp Hemp seeds or Chia seeds (plus extra for the garnish)
-
1/2 tsp Vanilla extract (to enhance the sweetness)
-
Optional: A drizzle of honey or 1-2 dates if you prefer it sweeter.
Instructions
-
Prep the Greens: Tear the kale leaves away from the woody stems. Rinse them thoroughly.
-
Layer the Blender: Add the liquid first (milk), followed by the kale, then the banana and seeds. This helps the blender blades catch the softest items first for a smoother finish.
-
Blend: Start on a low speed and gradually increase to high. Blend for about 45–60 seconds until no green flecks remain and the texture is completely smooth.
-
Garnish: Pour into a glass and sprinkle a generous pinch of hemp and chia seeds on top, just like in your photo.
Tips for the Perfect Smoothie
-
Avoid the “Bitter” Kale: If kale is too strong for you, try baby spinach; it has a milder flavor but provides the same beautiful green color.
-
Keep it Cold: If you don’t use frozen fruit, add 3-4 ice cubes to the blender to ensure it stays refreshing.
