Refreshing Green Juice Recipe
Ingredients
-
2 Green Apples (Granny Smith works best for a tart finish)
-
4 to 5 Stalks of Celery (thoroughly washed)
-
1 small sprig of Fresh Mint (plus extra for garnish)
-
1/2 Lemon (peeled)
-
Optional: A small knob of fresh ginger for a spicy kick.
Instructions
-
Prepare the Produce: Wash the celery stalks and apples thoroughly under cold running water. Remove the stems from the apples and slice them into wedges small enough to fit through your juicer’s chute. You do not need to peel them, as the skin contains many nutrients.
-
Juice the Greens: Start by feeding the mint leaves and the lemon into the juicer. Following these with the celery helps “push” the smaller leaves through the machine. Celery is highly fibrous, so feeding it steadily ensures maximum juice extraction.
-
Add the Sweetness: Feed the apple wedges into the juicer. The high water content of the apples will help flush out any remaining celery or mint juice trapped in the mechanism.
-
Stir and Serve: Once finished, stir the juice with a spoon to incorporate the layers. If you prefer a very smooth consistency, you can pour the juice through a fine-mesh strainer into a chilled glass.
-
Enjoy: Garnish with a fresh sprig of mint. This juice is best enjoyed immediately to benefit from its freshness, but it can be stored in an airtight glass container in the refrigerator for up to 24 hours.
Quick Tips
-
Keep it Cold: For the best flavor, ensure your fruits and vegetables are chilled in the refrigerator before juicing.
-
Zero Waste: Save the leftover pulp to add to compost or mix into muffin batters for extra fiber!
