Ingredients:
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
- 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 cup marinara sauce
- 4 hoagie rolls
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- Fresh basil leaves for garnish
Instructions:
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a large bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, chopped parsley, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Mix well until all ingredients are evenly incorporated.
- Shape the mixture into meatballs, about 1 to 1.5 inches in diameter.
- In a skillet over medium heat, brown the meatballs on all sides. This step is to give them a nice sear, but they don’t need to be fully cooked as they’ll finish in the oven. Once browned, set aside.
- Cut a hollow space in the center of each hoagie roll to create a “boat.”
- Place the hoagie rolls on a baking sheet. Spoon a little marinara sauce into each roll.
- Arrange the meatballs in the hollowed-out portion of each roll.
- Pour the remaining marinara sauce over the meatballs, and sprinkle shredded mozzarella cheese on top.
- Bake in the preheated oven for about 15-20 minutes or until the meatballs are cooked through, and the cheese is melted and bubbly.
- Remove from the oven, garnish with fresh basil leaves, and serve your meatball boats hot.
