The Hawaiian Screwdriver
Yields: 1 drink | Prep time: 5 minutes
Ingredients
2 oz Vodka (choose a smooth, premium brand)
3 oz Freshly squeezed orange juice
2 oz Pineapple juice (chilled)
1/2 oz Grenadine or simple syrup (optional, for extra sweetness)
Ice: Plenty of fresh cubes
Garnish: Fresh pineapple wedge, a whole strawberry, and a sprig of mint
Instructions
Chill Your Glass: For the best experience, place your pineapple-shaped glass (or a highball glass) in the freezer for 10 minutes before starting.
Combine the Spirits and Juices: In a cocktail shaker or a separate mixing glass, combine the vodka, orange juice, and pineapple juice. If you prefer a sweeter drink with a “sunset” gradient, hold the grenadine for the final step.
Shake or Stir: Add a handful of ice to the shaker and give it a gentle shake for about 10 seconds. You want it ice-cold without over-diluting the fruit flavors.
Pour: Fill your chilled glass with fresh ice. Strain the mixture into the glass.
The “Hawaiian Sunset” Effect: If using grenadine, slowly pour it over the back of a spoon into the drink. It will sink to the bottom, creating a beautiful layered look.
Garnish: Top with a sprig of mint for aroma, and slide a pineapple wedge and strawberry onto the rim as shown in your photo.
Pro Tip: Use frozen pineapple chunks instead of some of the ice cubes to keep the drink cold without watering it down as you sip!
