Cinnamon Swirl Bread Recipe

 

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup warm milk (110-115°F)
  • 2 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 eggs
  • 3 1/2 to 4 cups all-purpose flour

For the Filling:

  • 1/3 cup sugar
  • 2 tablespoons ground cinnamon
  • 3 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened

Instructions:

  1. Yeast Mixture: In a large bowl, dissolve yeast in warm milk. Add sugar, melted butter, salt, and eggs. Stir well.
  2. Dough Formation: Gradually add flour to form a soft dough. Knead on a floured surface for about 6-8 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  3. First Rise: Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm place until doubled, about 1 hour.
  4. Prepare Filling: Mix together sugar and cinnamon for the filling.
  5. Rolling the Dough: After the first rise, punch down the dough and roll it out on a floured surface into a 16×21-inch rectangle. Spread softened butter over the surface and then sprinkle evenly with the cinnamon-sugar mixture.
  6. Creating the Swirl: Roll up the dough tightly and cut into 12 equal slices. Place slices in a greased 9×13 inch baking pan.
  7. Second Rise: Cover the pan and let the rolls rise again until nearly doubled, about 30 minutes.
  8. Baking: Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Bake for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown.
  9. Serving: Let the bread cool slightly before serving. Optional: Drizzle with a simple icing made of powdered sugar and milk for an extra sweet touch.
