Ingredients:
- 1/2 cup warm milk (110-115°F)
- 2 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 2 eggs
- 3 1/2 to 4 cups all-purpose flour
For the Filling:
- 1/3 cup sugar
- 2 tablespoons ground cinnamon
- 3 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened
Instructions:
- Yeast Mixture: In a large bowl, dissolve yeast in warm milk. Add sugar, melted butter, salt, and eggs. Stir well.
- Dough Formation: Gradually add flour to form a soft dough. Knead on a floured surface for about 6-8 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- First Rise: Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm place until doubled, about 1 hour.
- Prepare Filling: Mix together sugar and cinnamon for the filling.
- Rolling the Dough: After the first rise, punch down the dough and roll it out on a floured surface into a 16×21-inch rectangle. Spread softened butter over the surface and then sprinkle evenly with the cinnamon-sugar mixture.
- Creating the Swirl: Roll up the dough tightly and cut into 12 equal slices. Place slices in a greased 9×13 inch baking pan.
- Second Rise: Cover the pan and let the rolls rise again until nearly doubled, about 30 minutes.
- Baking: Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Bake for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown.
- Serving: Let the bread cool slightly before serving. Optional: Drizzle with a simple icing made of powdered sugar and milk for an extra sweet touch.
