Ingredients:
- 4 cups apples, peeled and finely chopped (use a mix of sweet and tart varieties)
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
- 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- 1 package egg roll wrappers (usually about 12 wrappers)
- 1/4 cup butter, melted
- Caramel sauce for drizzling (optional)
- Powdered sugar for dusting
Instructions:
- Prepare the Apple Filling:
- In a bowl, mix together the chopped apples, sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and flour until the apples are well coated. Set aside.
- Roll ‘Em Up:
- Lay an egg roll wrapper on a clean surface with one corner pointing towards you. Place a spoonful of the apple mixture in the center of the wrapper.
- Fold the bottom corner over the filling, then fold in the sides, and roll it up tightly. Seal the edge with a bit of water.
- Repeat and Assemble:
- Repeat the process until all the wrappers are filled and rolled.
- Ready to Fry:
- Heat about 2 inches of oil in a pan to 350°F (175°C). Carefully place a few egg rolls into the hot oil and fry until golden brown, turning as needed. This should take about 2-3 minutes per side.
- Drain and Dip:
- Remove the egg rolls and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil. Brush each roll with melted butter.
- Sweet Finish:
- Dust the Apple Pie Egg Rolls with powdered sugar and, if you’re feeling extra indulgent, drizzle with caramel sauce.
- Serve Warm:
- These are best enjoyed warm, so dive into the deliciousness as soon as they’re cool enough to handle.
