Watermelon Banana Smoothie
Prep time: 10 minutes | Servings: 2
Ingredients
Frozen Watermelon: 3 cups (cubed and frozen beforehand)
Banana: 1 large (frozen slices are best for creaminess)
Liquid Base: 1/2 cup (Coconut water, almond milk, or plain Greek yogurt for extra protein)
Lime Juice: 1 tablespoon (adds a nice brightness)
Optional Sweetener: 1 teaspoon honey or agave (if your fruit isn’t quite sweet enough)
Instructions
Prep the Fruit: If you haven’t already, cube your watermelon and slice your banana. Freeze them for at least 2–4 hours. This ensures the smoothie is thick and frosty rather than thin.
Layer the Blender: Add your liquid base first, followed by the frozen banana and then the frozen watermelon. Adding liquid first helps the blades move more easily.
Blend: Start on a low speed and gradually increase to high. Blend until completely smooth. If it’s too thick, add an extra splash of liquid.
Taste Test: Give it a quick taste. If it needs more “zing,” add a little more lime juice.
Garnish & Serve: Pour into tall glasses. Top with a fresh banana slice and a small wedge of watermelon as seen in your image.
Pro Tips for the Perfect Texture
The “No Ice” Rule: Try to avoid using actual ice cubes. They can make the flavor taste diluted. Using frozen fruit provides the chill and the flavor simultaneously.
Storage: This smoothie is best enjoyed immediately. If you have leftovers, you can pour them into popsicle molds for a frozen treat later!
